Before Illness

Before Oliver was struck down with Encephalitis he was a very active little lad. Oliver did not stop running & playing. He loved being outdoors. Oliver did have some behaviour problems but that was overridden by his kindness and love.

In Hospital

Oliver was rushed into hospital on the 20th February 2016, due to an unknown virus which attacked his whole brain, He nearly died. We had some really bad weeks in hospital; Oliver was screaming all the time in pain for weeks on end, his brain hurt so much from the damage that the virus had caused. Weeks of pure frustration & sadness, we could not do anything to make the pain go away, not even the medication worked, But Oliver did improve and soon the pain went away.

At The Children’s Trust

This was the next stage for Oliver’s recovery; Oliver did not recover as quickly as we hoped at The Children’s Trust. They did try to find different ways to help Oliver. We now know that Oliver’s brain is going to be a slow recovery that may take many years till he is a lot better.

Back Home

Oliver came home on the 25 November 2016 to start a new life in Oxford with his family. He has a brand new medical team around him and we are slowing getting into a routine, School starts in April at Mabel Prichard School, Let’s hope 2017 will be a better year for Oliver.
